This workshop focuses on the current needs of digital education in Hong Kong, with an emphasis on special educational needs (SEN) and student mental health support. It will share practical, localised examples/applications of AI in education. The workshop will examine practical AI use cases in schools and, with reference to the Education Bureau’s Three-tier Support Model, explore how AI can support the design of Individualised Education Plans (IEPs) and the development of teaching materials tailored to local students’ needs—addressing current limitations of existing tools in local contexts. It will also introduce AI-assisted behavioural intervention strategies that school counsellors and frontline teachers can apply directly in day-to-day student support. At the same time, the workshop will provide practical guidance from the perspectives of both education administrators and frontline educators. Real cases of digital support for SEN and mental health support from Mainland China will also be shared, offering cross-regional insights to help schools promote digital special education and student mental health support more effectively.

This seminar introduces how schools make use of Google AI Agents by leveraging the Gem feature in Google Gemini to build bespoke, school‑based AI Agents that support teaching and classroom interaction. It will demonstrate how AI Agents can be seamlessly connected to the Google smart education ecosystem, including Google Workspace and Google Classroom, to integrate teaching content, data and learning resources. The seminar will also examine how automated workflows can be designed to support lesson preparation and administrative tasks, thereby enhancing overall teaching efficiency. In addition, the seminar will focus on the use of Vibe Code to develop a school‑based interactive science platform and train dedicated AI science assistants. Through school‑based models, students are guided to engage in logical thinking and scientific enquiry rather than simply accessing information. Innovative practice cases will be shared to illustrate how this approach has led to an invitation from the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD) to apply AI technology in the creation of an “AI TV Channel”, producing science communication programmes that transform scientific knowledge into engaging and professionally presented visual content.

As artificial intelligence becomes increasingly embedded in schools, the focus has shifted from whether AI should be used to how it can be applied safely, effectively and sustainably to support teaching, learning and school operations. Taking a teacher‑centred perspective, this seminar draws on frontline teaching experience and school administration insights to examine the role of AI in classroom learning and day‑to‑day school operations, and to support teachers in developing an AI application mindset grounded in professional judgment. Drawing on local, school‑based examples, the seminar explores how generative AI can be applied to teaching and administrative work, and how clear principles and safety measures canhelp turn AI from a concept into feasible, replicable, and sustainable school‑based practices, covering the key areas of teaching, administration and school‑based implementation.

This seminar aims to enhance teachers’ foundational understanding of school cybersecurity and data privacy, and to strengthen their ability to respond effectively in everyday practice. Drawing on real cases of cyber attacks and data breaches in Hong Kong schools, the session explains why schools are also common targets for hackers, and dispels the misconception that smaller schools face lower risks. Using examples from teachers’ daily teaching and administrative work, the lecture outlines the key requirements of the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance, covering common situations such as the use of messaging applications, USB storage devices and the handling of assessment data. It also introduces emerging scam tactics associated with the rise of AI, including practical examples of deepfake technology, to raise awareness and vigilance. Through practical advice and clear guidance, the lecture supports teachers in handling student data more securely and responsibly.

This seminar will focus on AI‑based experimental tools and teaching applications for Integrated Science education. It will illustrate how AI technologies can support teachers in developing teaching tools that address school‑based needs, enabling the effective integration of technology into curriculum design. The seminar will also explore how aviation‑related elements can be incorporated into subjects such as Physics, Mathematics, Geography, and English. By leveraging AI‑enabled interactive approaches, participants will examine how immersive, thematic, and cross‑school learning activities can enhance students’ learning motivation and cross‑curricular competencies.
